Based in Brussels, Hyacint Consult brings together a team of dedicated experts. Founded by Famke Schaap, bringing over 15 years of global trade and sustainability experience, our advisory practice operates with a truly global reach.
Complementing our Brussels-based expert-team, we offer a global network of experts which is grounded in two decades of work and action in the wide range of countries and geographies, ranging from OECD countries including EU, US, South-Korea and Canada as well as emerging markets such as Africa, SE Asia and Eastern Europe.
For each client engagement, we assemble a tailored team with relevant skills and expertise. Our areas of focus include sustainability due diligence maturity, ESG risk management, human rights, environmental issues, anti-corruption risks, stakeholder collaboration, and community impact.

Famke Schaap
Since establishing Hyacint Consult in 2019, Famke has been a trusted adviser working with companies, Governments and other stakeholders on trade and sustainability risk and impact in global supply chains.
She brings strong a strong understanding of what drives business, Government and societal players in global operations and supply chains. At large, her advisory work follows the global ‘trade routes’ of raw materials, with geographic experience in Europe, the US, Africa, SE Asia, South America and Central Asia. She connects trade, supply chain and ESG policy and market trends with on-the-ground realities, supporting business, government and societal actors in building resilient, competitive supply chains.
Famke’s tailored advisory work helps clients align with legislative frameworks (incl EU/US trade policy, WTO, Conflict Minerals Regulation, Forced Labour, Deforestation Regulation, CSDDD and CSRD, OECD, UNGP, IFC Performance Standards). In addition, she has a thorough knowledge of industry standards relevant for minerals and raw materials (incl CopperMark, LBMA, IRMA, RMI/RMAP, RSPO).
Her comprehensive and solution-oriented approach builds on deep-dive insights from audits and gap assessments, as a basis to translating expectations into practical actions. She enjoys working closely aligned to in-house teams, to support business’ resilience and success, whilst ensuring compliance and the 'social license to operate'.
Prior to starting Hyacint Consult, her career path spans consulting (Deloitte Belgium), the WTO/UN International Trade Centre (ITC), and trade diplomacy (Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs). At Hyacint Consult, advisory assignments have covered electronics, steel, green transition sectors, luxury (gold, jewellery, gemstones), agriculture and textiles.
Languages: English, French, Dutch (native). Based in Brussels, she enjoys tennis and local jazz.
Famke is based in Brussels and is fluent in English, French, Dutch.
Outside work? She enjoys tennis, cross-country skiing and the (Brussels') jazz and music scene.
